GAPE
Gender Empowerment through Agroecology and Permaculture (GAPE) project was implemented by PPIZ (Practical Permaculture Institute of Zanzibar) from 2021 to 2023. The focus of GAPE was to empower young women aged 18 to 35 who had experienced gender-based violence. This project was supported by the French Embassy, and through it, PPIZ successfully reached 760 direct beneficiaries across Unguja and Pemba. Additionally, the project trained 100 agricultural extension officers (Bwana na Bibi Shamba) from all districts in Zanzibar, providing them with training in organic agriculture and permaculture, along with essential working tools and equipment.
