The Strengthening Organic Sector and Organic Training in Zanzibar project (SOSOT) running from 2022 to 2024 and sponsored by the BIOVISION Switzerland organization, is being implemented by PPIZ (Practical Permaculture Institute of Zanzibar). This initiative is focused on reinforcing the organic agriculture sector and supporting organic farmers, particularly by connecting them to markets. The project has successfully reached 360 beneficiaries across 17 farmer groups from Unguja and Pemba, specifically in the regions of South Unguja, South Pemba, and Urban West. These groups have received professional training, market linkage support, and essential working tools and equipment. A key achievement is that these farmer groups are now able to produce and manage their operations independently.
